The degree to which a diamond lacks colour
White Diamonds
Diamonds are transparent and may display a hint of colour. Diamond colour refers to the extent to which a diamond is colourless. The less colour a diamond has the more refraction of light they allow and hence more brilliance or sparkle. Colourless diamonds are more rare and valuable.
The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) established a colour grading system for white diamonds that ranges from D to Z, based on the degree to which they are colourless. Diamonds with a “D” colour grade are colourless and most valuable. It has a "pure" or "white" colour. We recommend diamonds from the top three colour grades – D, E and F. These diamonds display a beautiful brilliance.
Coloured diamonds exceedingly rare and sought after. They come in a variety of colours including yellow, pink and blue.
Fancy coloured diamond's quality is judged by the intensity of their hue. The more colour, the rarer and hence more valuable they are.
